TOXIC REMEDIATION IN PIERCE COUNTY

The Arsenic and Lead datum were dissolved to get the average values that were collected at one site, then interpolated (by Kriging) the points to determine the expected values of arsenic and lead everywhere else.

It was then determined how many total kids under 10 years old (calculated from the census' demographic data) and the data was imported into the table into a GDB (GeoDataBase),

The data was joined to the Pierce County block layer, then the density of kids per square mile was calculated by adding more fields to the attribute tableand the field calculator, and interpolated (by IDW) the results to a point feature into our FDS (Feature DataSet).

The Raster Calculator was used on "kiddensityreclass," "arsenicreclass," and "leadreclass" to represent the areas that have both high kid density and high arsenic&lead levels in the soil that should be remediated.
